Volunteers
Students may help support the library by volunteering. Students will need to get permission from the teacher before volunteering. Missing instructional time to volunteer in the library is not allowed. It is recommended that students volunteer before or after school and during recess.
Parents may volunteer in the library. Prior to being allowed to volunteer, parents should follow the strict guidelines for volunteering, as this may include background checks and fingerprinting. Additional information is available by calling Security Services at 301.499.7000.

Student and parent volunteers may be asked to:
- check-out/in materials;
- answering the telephone;
- putting books/material on the shelves;
- clerical duties;
- data entry;
- help create bulletin boards and displays;
- help students and staff use the online catalog;
- help users find materials; and/or
- book fair set-up, break down, and assist customers.
